It has been almost two years since Blue Geranium was approached by Miss Alice Ash Wilson-Gough & Mr Tarquin Daftari Clarke with regard to discussing ideas for their wedding flowers and on Saturday, 2nd July 2016, that wonderful day finally arived at one of the finest Country houses in Devon if not England, known as Kingston House Estate.
Alice hired a dream team to ensure her perfect day ran smooth and according to her wishes. To help Alice achieve her vision, she hired Blue Geranium to provide all the flowers, Jenny Wren to coordinate the wedding parties and Inspire Hire to provide a touch of style throughout the event with furniture, vases and table ware, for use in the main house, the barn for the reception and outside areas for relaxing. Catering was provided by Posh Nosh and from first hand experience and several other events - their food and service is Highly recommended.
Due to the scale of the event, with kind permission of the estate owners, Sarah & Jamie, Blue Geranium was able to set-up a pop-up workshop in the Linhay on the estate. The first & subsequent waves of plants and flowers & foliage arrived on Tuesday, Wedneday, Thursday and Friday. To be on site for the entire week is an absolute luxury and it saved an immense amount of time. All the arrangements were simply installed on location as and when they were completed with only a few short steps to each site, including the entrance hall of the main house, the walled ceremony garden and the barn for the wedding breakfast. Blue Geranium requires some very valued assistance for some large scale occasions and this was most certainly an event, which required the help of the super talented Nathan for his calming nature and his speedy tempo. He travels from central London with much prior notice and is worth three florists for the price of one and Anna from Totnes who potters away even when she's nearly 8 months pregnant (HUGE THANKS X). Sarah, Jamie and the estate team have always made Don & Phil feel more than welcome and from past experience other clients have all been more than delighted with their warm hospitality. Long may their success continue X
Prior to Saturday's celebration of Marriage, the happy couple joined their two families at a Civil ceremony at Follaton House, (Totnes) Thursday, 29th June 2016. Blue Geranium provided a beautiful bouquet of flowers that were cut from the garden at Alice's family home in South Devon. Don decided to provide a different style in contrast to the main requested bouquet for Saturday. A tear-drop design of pink and ivory scented garden roses, herbs, pale yellow scabious, ground elder, daucus, astrantia and completed with a burlap tie. Image provided in gallery.
By Tuesday it became very apparent that the inclement weather for Saturday would remain. By Friday a temporary stretch sail marquee was erected over the outdoor ceremony garden. Highly recommend for outdoor wedding ceremonies, especially with inclement British weather getting in the way of spoiling the big day. The marquee was a saviour, because it sure did rain cats and dogs, but you know what, it also kept the sun off the beautiful herbacious border that ran along both sides of the aisle and the fully dressed ceremony pergola. Guests often feel too exposed if the sun is beating down on them, while they're sat waiting in their best frocks and suits. Highly recommended.
Following the ceremony, strong gusts blew all guests as they fled the shelter of the marquee through the torrential rain into the house for a champagne reception in the Marble Hall (where the stunning wedding cake was also placed), Dining & Drawing Room with entertainment by magician Dan Brazier and music performed with a String Quartet provided by Divertmento - The main Photorapher who captures weddings with absolute beauty and finess is Sarah Lauren. This time out period allowed Blue Geranium to reuse the ceremony space flowers and transport them to the Barn for the wedding reception, which filled the space with colour and greenery with the effect of bringing the outside in. Guests have a full panoramic view of the formal gardens at the barn, which offers a wonderful feast for all the senses.
Once again, thank you Alice & Tarquin XXX Mr & Mrs T Daftari XXX
